Nordstrom Sale 2018-My TOP PICKS

Cardigan // Tee // Jeans // Booties
The Nordstrom Sale is Public... this is not a drill!  If you're reading this on Friday 7/20, grab a beverage and pop over to Nordstrom.com-after you check out my top picks of course.  ;)  I'm wearing my top Nordstrom picks in this photo.  If you see me around town this fall, it'll probably be in this.  They are all quality pieces and comfortable!  I don't do scratchy, or uncomfortable pieces EVER!  These booties are soft and made for walking, the jeans blew me away, and I rave about the cardigan below.  Halogen tees are my favorite soft, "drapey" tees from Nordstrom, but these are in the sale.  They were when the sale first launched though! :(

January Tee,
                        Main,
                        color, Lilac
$31.90 // $48
I was VERY skeptical of this tee and all the blogger hype.  I always find myself swimming in fabric when it comes to Free People.  I actually tried this on in my usually size and it fits beautifully.  I really see this more as a tunic for leggings and skinnies than a tee.  It's not too much fabric and the stretchy fitted sleeves really balance out the flowy bottom.

Plaid Shirt,
                        Main,
                        color, Red Jester Kipleigh Plaid
BP Plaid Shirt-6 colors
$31.90 // $49
One of my "fall uniforms" is a plaid flannel, jeans and booties.  These flannels are soft and cozy and you can't beat  under $35.  6 color options, but I went with classic black and white.  I'm impressed with these, and I sized down one as I usually do with BP.

Donna Release Hem Ankle Skinny Jeans,
                        Main,
                        color, Civility
Donna Release Hem Skinny Ankle
$59.90 // $89.50 after sale
Hello new loves!  Wow are these quality!  I live in Banana Republic Factory Jeans, but these blew me away.  Nice thick denim that moves with you and I love the deep blue.  The subtle distressing and raw hem are just enough.  Apparently, they should be a little cropped, but I'm wearing these in the first pic and they are perfect on my 5'4" frame-I do have a very short torso and longer legs.
Stitch Curve Hem Cardigan,
                        Main,
                        color, Pink Cedar
BP Stitch Curve Hem Cardigan-6 colors
$31.90 // $49 after sale
I purchased the BP cardigan last year, but this years quality definitely trumps those.  This is the perfect fall staple.  Not at all scratchy, 6 colors and perfect for leggings, dresses, and denim.  If you get one staple cardigan, I recommend these.  I did size down one in this too, being that it's BP.  If you  want a slouchier fit, go with your usual size.

Camo Faux Leather Leggings,
                        Main,
                        color, Matte Blk Camo
$72.90 //$110 after sale
I finally gave in to the hype and got a pair...these are everything!  I sized up one so they wouldn't be too tight and I'm glad I did.  These are incredibly flattering-suck everything in and are crazy comfortable while doing it.  This Camo print is a fun spin on the classics and will still pair well with pretty much everything.  This Moto style looks great as well for an edgier vibe.

$35.90//$54 after sale
Oh Zella leggings.  Right up there with Lululemon as my favorite quality.  I have had a pair in black for two years and they still look great after many machine washings.  I just grabbed the "Red Tannin" (more of a wine color) and these are perfect for everything from working out to Target runs.

blend.cleanse.carry Set,
                        Alternate,
                        color, No ColorBlend.Cleanse.Carry Set-Beauty Blender
I use a Beauty Blender almost everyday for foundation and to blend cream bronzer.  I love how flawlessly it applies my makeup.  One is usually $20, and with this, you get two plus a cleanser and carry case-the case is a lifesaver!

CozyChic Lite® Circle Cardigan,
                        Main,
                        color, Stone
Barefoot Dreams  Cozy Cardigan-3 colors
My mom actually got me one of these for Christmas and it's basically a wearable blanket.  You will want to live in this!  I just keep petting my arms (is that weird!?).  They always have these in wearable neutral options and I'm so happy I got one!

Hopefully this post helps you grab some quality staple items!  If you have  any questions or there's something you want me to work on, shoot me a message!

Cheers,
Ashley

My Current Favorite J Crew Factory Pieces

Tie-Waist Shirt-Very lightweight.  Perfect for hot days.  Not see-thru!  Runs true-to-size

Denim Shorts-These are cuffed, but the cuff will unfold in the wash.  I love the length cuffed, so I'll be sewing or cutting mine, but taller gals have the option to unroll them.  Very comfy and I love that they are true-to-size, stretch, and not tight on the legs-big pet peeve of mine.

Espadrille Slip-ons-I love a statement shoe and these were too fun to pass up!  They're very comfortable (notice a trend with my purchases?).  I'm normally a 7, sometimes a 6.5, and I went with the 6.5 in these.  The 7 would slip off my foot when I walked.

Sweater Blazer-My two favorite pieces of clothing rolled in to one.  I own this sweater in black and grey and I'm seriously considering the Navy too.  It's is so flattering, easy to move in, and perfect all year-round.  They offer a longer version with front pockets (here), but this option is far more flattering on my petite frame.

Anchor Tee- I own so many tees from here.  I usually get my true size or size down, but the sleeves are more fitted than the body.  They're a slightly thicker cotton which I love all year and doesn't get worn out easily from washing and wearing.
Gingham Shorts- I went up a size in these.  They are always around in various prints and solids and so many people I know love them! This print is almost sold out online in the 4" inseam, but they offer a 5" as well-here.
Sweater Blazer-Listed above

Drapey Tank- I love a well-made tank.  This is flexible on the sizing-I went with my true size, but could go down or even up one.  This is perfect for layering, but great on its own when the humidity is kicking our butts.  A bunch of color options too!  Plus, its not see-thru!

If you have any questions, let me know!

Cheers & Happy Shopping,
Ashley

Floral Maxi-perfect for Spring/Summer Weddings & Events!

In Her Nature Boutique (dress) // Sandals (orange) (size up 1/2 size) // Hat // Fitbit band

Hello lovelies!  Happy Tuesday!  Anyone else just feeling a little brighter now that the weather has started to warm up!?  I'm going through some changes in my full-time job and decided to take a voiceover class (so much fun!), so days have been crazy, but I'm still trying to blog first, so thanks for sticking with me!
This weekend I had to capture this maxi I just bought for an upcoming wedding.  I'm wearing it with flats here, but a small heel would be best for this on my 5'4" frame.  I actually ordered this from a friend's boutique after seeing only one  picture.  The colors, the ruffles, and the halter neck (flattering on so many body types) were everything I knew I wanted.  It's perfect for weddings, showers, parties or days that you just don't want to wear pants.  I don't wear a lot of dresses, but a maxi dress is my first choice because it just feels like you're wearing pajamas!  I felt like Alice in Wonderland in the park on this day, and truth be told, I was struggling to walk on some of these rocks, but it actually made for some great pics-at least I think so!
Ok, Ok, so a couple details about this dress; I had on a black bra and you could not tell!  I wore nude bottoms and the dress is not sheer, but is lightweight and flowy.  The straps do adjust, and there are still some available in  Small & Medium for only $29!!  I've linked it below the last photo if you need it.  Now, time for some sushi.

Cheers & Happy Shopping!

Dogs Love Me-Purchases that Support Animal Rescues!

Hello there!  So, if there's one thing I love more than fashion, it's dogs.  Maybe even obsessed.  I'm the person that will run up and greet the dog before anyone-even babies.  When I saw this sweatshirt at Bevello, I new I had to have it.  As far as the garment details go, it's one of the softest pieces I own, runs true-to-size, and has a fun side tie detail.  Now...the most important part is that 10% of the proceeds goes to A Dog's Life Rescue.  This inspired me to round up some items you can purchase that will benefit animals in need.  Of course, you can always donate money or items directly to local animal shelters!  If you're in Hampton Roads, Hope For Life is one of my favorites-I love that the animals can roam and mingle together (unless sick or anti-social of course).

1. The Animal Rescue Site- Cute gift items, and it tells you how many animals you'll be feeding with your purchase!

2. American Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)- Free tote when you sign up for monthly donations of $19 or more.

3. Bestfriends.org- Shop from their store, sponsor a pet in need, or donate.

4. I Heart Dogs- Lots of items to choose from and they also tell you how many animals are being helped with the particular item you're purchasing!

Hopefully this post at least inspired you to hug your pets or give them an extra treat.  If you know of any other sites, please let me know and I'll add them to the list!

Cheers,
Ashley

Perfect Festive Dress & where I find Affordable Unique Pieces

(because every photo is amazing)

Dress is sold out, but other adorable (& affordable options) In Her Nature Boutique
// Cork Sandals (very comfortable & true-to-size

Happy Cinco De Mayo!  Hoping you get to enjoy this weekend and Spring's arrival!  Started off with a little brunch ( I do nothing without food) and lots of errands.  I feel like I haven't posted in a while, but hopefully its worth the wait!  I'm showcasing this adorable, perfect for Cinco dress, bringing you a shoe review, and some new pics I got from my friend Renee.  If you need family, wedding, or boudoir pics, she is honestly the best.  Take my word, because I'm not one to say I like pictures of myself.  Who's with me??
If you've been following me for a minute, you might also recognize that I picked up this dress (which left me plenty of room to eat what I wanted) from In Her Nature Boutique.  I love the personalized experience and the uniqueness that boutiques offer, but they can usually be pricey.  Anissa brings amazingly affordable pieces together and who doesn't want to support genuinely good people!?  She hosts pop ups all the time, and can do home parties too.    This particular dress is sold out, but she's always bringing in new items.  I follow her instastories to get a sneak peek of new items  and stay updated on where she'll be next.
This is kind of a combo post, so along with bringing you two of my fav lovely lady small businesses, I'm adding my Spring shoe review, as I don't want any of the items below to sell out...again!  I've rounded up my new top shoes and reviewed each one, with sizing tips below.  All of them are under $50...holla!  Most are actually under $25.

Happy shopping lovelies!

1. Faux Leather Slides- Ordered 1/2 size up based on reviews and they're perfect!  These are an amazing dupe for others that I've seen a ton of bloggers talk about!  You can't beat the under $15 price point and after walking around DC in these my feet were still happy.  There really isn't any padding or cushion, but I had no problems.  I purchased the "orange" (looks like a cognac in person)

2. Cork Sandal-These are probably my favs and I'm pretty surprised that I found these at Forever 21!  These are great quality!  Because cork is porous, I sprayed them twice with my waterproofing shoe protector.  I spray all of my shoes though!  These run true-to-size.  These also look exactly as they're pictured online and really add a fun spin to the Summer heel!

3. Faux Suede Wedge-True-to-size and I wear a lot of  neutrals, so these are a great pop of color, but there are black and tan options as well.  These have sold out once before in all colors and have been restocked, but they are going quick!  This style wedge is so on trend right now and the faux suede actually looks pretty good for the price.

4. Bow Flat- These are true-to-size as well.  I love the Gingham print and just wanted something cute and trendy for Spring.  There is a pink option too, if you prefer solids over prints.  They aren’t my most supportive shoes, but they don’t hurt my feet and my toes don't feel crowded, which can tend to happen with pointed shoes.  I just love a good bow!

5. Converse Slip On Sneaker-These are classics, but I'm just now getting in to them!  I went with these as my first pair of Converse because they have the elasticized back, so they are comfortable and secure on my feet, but I can slide them on and off.  I can't be the only one that is incredibly lazy when it comes to tying shoes!?  Anyway, I'm hooked these may be replacing my Sperry addiction.

Cheers,
Ashley

Kendra Scott Visit & A Surprise Deal!

"Kacey" Pendant Necklace

These are AMAZING statement earrings, but I'd never wear them- "Justyne" (even more stunning in blue)

<3 Home décor in Abalone

"Addie" Gold Drop Earrings

"Marty" Drop Earrings // "Addie" Gold Drop Earrings
(I had narrowed my choices down to these two.  The filigree on the right are permanent and the pink are from the new collection)

"Marty" Drop Earrings-The ones I chose!

How is March treating everyone!?  I'm a little partial to it, since it is my birthday month AND the start of Spring (so ready for it).  I feel like January was 3 months long.  In an attempt to venture out of hibernation, and armed with some new information (more on that later) I took a little day trip.
Last week my bestie and I made a trip to Kendra Scott.  I have a couple of her pieces, but have only purchased them from local boutiques when they have a store-wide sale.  If you're not familiar, Kendra Scott does amazing quality costume jewelry, some fine jewelry, and as of today, she'll have candles as part of her home line too!  The "Amethyst"  scent was my favorite, followed by "Rose Quartz".  They weren't in store yet when we went, but they gave out scent cards to help entice us for when they arrive- and it worked!
I know I said I had some new information and if you're ready (sit down for this), I'll tell you....during the month of your birthday, you can pick a jewelry piece in a Kendra Scott store for 50% OFF!  How did I never know about this?!  Kendra Scott doesn't advertise this; it's just known from word-of-mouth.  Her pieces are not cheap, and you get quality pieces for the price, but if I can treat myself for a deal, then even better!  Now I will say, this DOES NOT include the fine jewelry (precious metals like sterling).  I believe that only gets 25%. There was only a small case of this in the store and I didn't pay much attention to it.  There were so many  other amazing pieces to try on and swoon over!  I was genuinely surprised at how lightweight the pieces are-especially earrings.  My friend, Rachael, and I had so much fun, and the ladies at the Richmond, VA store were incredibly sweet!  We kept them there a couple minutes past closing while I finalized my decision and checked out.  Their stellar customer service deserves a shout out-thanks ladies!  I shared a couple of images above from the store and the earrings I finally chose, along with the runner up.  :)  I wanted something that made a statement, but that I could wear dressed up or casual.  I'm in LOVE with my pick and the color is just so vibrant (if you are curious and missed it, I noted under the pic which one I chose)!  Rachael and I are already planning to return in July for her birthday piece.
Since her candles launch today, I've linked them here for you to take a peak.  Wishing you all a great week and happy styling!  Let me know if you have any questions, or you've picked up a piece lately!

Cheers,
Ashley
